About Shape Rush
Shape Rush asks you to keep a moving square off spikes, walls, and other traps by jumping, flying, or flipping. The square travels forward by itself. You cannot stop it, and you cannot place a checkpoint. A crash restarts that course from the beginning.
Each of the six courses has its own layout, trap pattern, background music, and difficulty. Later courses speed up and pack the obstacles tighter, so timing and patience matter more than on the opening level.
The Six Levels
- Dream Dash: Easy
- Back On Track 2.0: Normal
- Dry Out 2.0: Normal
- Base After Base 2.0: Hard
- Reapers: Harder
- Club Madness: Harder
Reapers and Club Madness are called out as the courses where crashes come fastest. There is no practice mode and no way to drop a checkpoint, so each attempt is a full run.
How to Play Shape Rush
Guide the square to the finish by jumping, flying, or flipping at the right moment. Read the next obstacle early and match the beat. The Azgames page does not publish a separate key chart, so follow the prompts inside the game for those three actions.
- Jump, fly, or flip: Use the action that fits the gap. A mistimed move hits a spike, wall, or ceiling and ends the run.
- Stay on the beat: The music is part of the timing. Reacting late is the usual reason a clean stretch suddenly fails.
- Finish in one piece: The end zone only counts if you never crash on that attempt.
Portals and New Forms
Courses include portals, also described as gates. Passing through one changes the character into another form, such as a ship or a ball, and that form has different physics. The jump timing you used as a square will not carry over. Adjust as soon as the shape changes, then keep going until the finish.
Pro Tips for Shape Rush
- Clear Dream Dash first: It is the easy course. Use it to feel the jump, fly, and flip timing before the normal and hard layouts.
- Expect the portal: Ship and ball physics show up mid-course. Do not keep tapping as if you were still a square.
- Restart on purpose: Failed attempts are the only practice. Note where you crashed, then replay that section from the start.
- Save the harder pair for later: Reapers and Club Madness are listed as harder and punish small timing errors.
